What’s behind our Energy Advice?

A commitment to helping people make the best decisions they can about their energy use. Anything from making small, easy changes to making big purchase decisions.

There’s lots of good information about home energy out there but knowing the best course of action can still be tricky.

Our advisors will tailor their advice to you and can help “diagnose” the root cause of issues (e.g. why your power bill is so high) and make recommendations.

Trained, experienced advisors

Our Home Energy Advisors are trained and have a wealth of experience to draw on to answer your questions.

Community Energy Network provides a training manual and operational protocols to ensure advice is consistent across the Network.

Advisors stay up to date with developments in technology and best practice and we have close links with researchers and industry so you receive the best advice.

Not-for-profit

Our Home Energy Advisors are employed by community-based not-for-profit organisations (CEN Members). This means their advice is driven by a commitment to making positive changes for you and the environment rather than to drive private profit.

Some member organisations also offer goods and services (e.g. subsidised insulation and heating) but their advisors are not sales people.

Advisors can link you to a range of local and national services to help find the best result for you.

Local Experts

Because they are community-based our Home Energy Advisors know all about local conditions that affect your decision-making like housing types, climate and local energy providers.

Currently our Advisor Network includes Home Energy Advisors in Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury. We hope to bring you more connections soon.
