This month we congratulate three of our members for their part in important milestones in New Zealand’s efforts to improve the efficiency of existing homes.
Sustainability Trust insulates 100,000th home

Prime Minister John Key with Acting Minister of Energy Hekia Parata and Sustainability Trust staff at the celebration of the 100,000th house insulated under Warm Up New Zealand.
On 24th May the Minister of Energy, and EECA celebrated the completion of the 100,000th house insulated under the government’s Warm Up New Zealand programme.
The Prime Minister, the Minister of Energy and government officials were there to celebrate with staff from Sustainability Trust who installed the insulation.
Sustainability Trust is a Wellington based charitable trust and Community Energy Network member. They install insulation and efficient heating under the Warm Up New Zealand scheme but their reach goes far beyond that.
Sustainability Trust also runs Advice Centre Wellington, the Wellington Curtain Bank, Warm Fuzzies Wellington and a range of other community and environmental initiatives. Congratulations to Phil, Linda, and the team for their part in this milestone!
Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau insulates 3,000th house in Far North
Then, on 9th June Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau marked the completion of the 3,000th house in Northland, carried out through the Warm Up New Zealand.
Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau is a joint venture between two long-established community enterprises in Northland, CBEC in Kaitaia and He Iwi Kotahi Tatou Trust in Moerewa. A partnership between EECA, the ASB Community Trust and other local funders means in some cases Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau can insulate Northland Homes for free. Check out their website for more information.
