Hi there, and thank you for your post.
If you are still in the process of deciding which company to choose, a good first step is to use the Consumer “Powerswitch” site, http://www.powerswitch.co.nz. This will give you an idea of which companies are likely to offer you the best deal.
For more in depth information, I would recommend ringing two or three likely companies to discuss your particular energy usage patterns and to see what deals they offer. Some companies offer cheaper night rates (all electricity that is supplied from 11pm to 7am) or a night boost rate (cheaper electricity from 11pm to 7am to some appliances, with the company also supplying electricity at the cheaper rate for an hour or two in the afternoon at their discretion). If you have gas as well, It is not always clear which company or combination of companies will give you the best deal. Remember that you dont have to buy your gas and electricity from the same company and that it may be worth investigating the deals offered by gas companies such as Egas and Nova Gas as well as the mainstream energy companies.
If you would like to discuss your particular situation in more detail with an energy adviser, please feel free to call us toll free on 0800 388 588.
